Fly fishing can be one of the best sports to try out in Oklahoma. Getting the right gear will determine what kind of fish you might land.

Before you head to your favorite fishing hole the next thing you might want to learn is how to tie a fly.

For the average equipment to start tying a fly you will probably look in the neighborhood of $200 to $300.

Elk Hair is one of the most popular to use for flies, but did you know your dog’s fur can be used as a replacement in a pinch.

“If you get desperate enough you just trim a little off your dog and put it on a hook and your good to go,” said John Sellars, store manager of the Gadget Company.

Overall the type of hair that you put on the hook will determine what kind of fish you will catch.

“Matching the hatch of what type of bugs and insects are hatching at the river your fish is going to be a big part of it,” said Sellars.
