Tulsa Police say a woman is in the hospital this afternoon after being shot in the leg near 61st and Peoria.
Police said they believe the woman is going to be okay but there are still a lot of questions surrounding the shooting. They said it happened in front of Peoria Mart in the 6300 block of South Peoria just after 10 Thursday night.
Officers said when they arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound in the leg. They talked with several witnesses, but police said when they asked what the gunman look like, everyone gave a variety of descriptions.
It appears that a lot of shots were fired but officers said it's not clear why the shooter was targeting the woman.
"There are a lot of casings. We aren't able to draw any conclusions from that at this point. The indications we have is we have a single shooter, one gun," said Tulsa Police Captain Malcolm Wightman.
Detectives are now in charge of the investigation but call CrimeStoppers at 596-COPS if you know any helpful information and you can remain anonymous.
