A chase ended in Tulsa with an officer firing shots.

Police said the chase started in Verdigris and ended in a Tulsa church parking lot near Pine and Harvard with an officer firing two shots.

Police said a Verdigris officer tried to make a traffic stop on a truck around 2 a.m. Wednesday because it's lights were off, but the driver took off.

Police said they chased the suspect, who has been identified as Steven Roy Anderson, around Verdigris and then to Owasso. Officers said Owasso police tried to put out stop strips, but the driver avoided them and tried to ram into police.

Verdigris Police said they were going to call off the chase until the driver tried to ram into those officers. Officers said the chase ended up here in a parking lot of a church where the driver rammed into a Verdigris Police car.

Authorities said that officer jumped out of the car and, as the suspect was trying to run him over, the officer fired two shots at the truck and they were able to take the suspect into custody.

Police said Anderson wasn't hit, and no one was injured at any point in this chase. He also said he was sorry for putting officers in danger.

"We know the guy. I've dealt with him before. He's actually from Verdigris. He has an active warrant out of Rogers county. May be another reason he was running too. There was another individual with him but bailed out somewhere before this all happened. We don't know what happened to him," said Verdigris Police Chief Jack Shackelford.

Police said Anderson told officers the truck was stolen. They confirmed the truck is from Chouteau but they don't know how he got.

Anderson was wanted in Rogers County for failure to appear in court on some traffic violations including operating a vehicle with a suspended license, speeding and not wearing a seat belt.
