The Tulsa Fire Department says two "hero citizens" helped save a man's life after a dump truck crashed into a south Tulsa creek.

The dump truck drove into a creek near Hunter Park on 91st Street between Sheridan and Yale around 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

TFD says the dump truck had overturned into the creek and submerged in the water with the driver trapped inside. They said two "citizen heroes" were there holding the drivers head above water until crews arrived and pulled him out.

TFD said, "without their intervention, we may very well have lost a life today."

Sam Blackburn and Colby Young were driving near 91st and Sheridan when they saw the dump truck go off the road and into a creek. Both men jumped out and held the driver's head above water until first responders could get him out.

"Immediate response was trying to get him out, and then when we knew we couldn't get him out, Colby noticed he did actually take a breath, and that was a big relief," said Sam.

They say it was just the right thing to do under the circumstances.
