Jay Without Power, On Boil Order After 2 Rounds Of Storms

Neighbors are dealing with storm damage and flooding in Jay.  This comes as Delaware County is still dealing with damage from storms earlier this week. 

Police say a boil order is in effect in Jay, and the whole town is without power.

The Jay Family Medical Clinic off of Highway 59 sustained roof damage.  Emergency managers say several homes in this area were hit by the storms.

They say there's also flooding on one side of Horse Creek and they're having trouble getting over there because trees are down and power lines are lying across those trees.

People who live off Deerlick Road have enough damage to deal with, but they've spent the day checking up on each other and asking how they can help.

Most of the damage was near Highway 59 and Deerlick Road, where we saw heavily damaged and destroyed homes and uprooted trees all over the place.

Chance Johnson and his family are going to have a lot of cleaning up to do. He says they decided at the last minute to leave their home and use the city's storm shelter.Johnson and his family came back and found this possible tornado tore their home apart.

"We were gonna hide in that closet. There's no roof on it anymore, so it's a good thing we left," Johnson said.

Authorities say power outages are still a big issue county-wide Thursday morning.

There are also several outages northeast of Bernice. They say power won't be restored until sometime after daylight.

So far, no significant injuries have been reported.

The NWS has rated this tornado an EF-2.
