Our early spring warmth is about to kick into overdrive as we head into the upcoming work week!

Mostly cloudy skies will stick with us for our Sunday, but despite that, we’ll still have a pleasantly warm afternoon. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 70s across eastern Oklahoma with a south breeze becoming northerly late in the day behind a weak front.

That front will be a focal point for isolated storms to develop by late in the day. Around the Tulsa metro, we’ll have a brief chance for an isolated storm from late afternoon to early evening, with a better chance for scattered storms in southeastern Oklahoma Sunday night along that front. There remains a low-end threat for a couple of these storms to become severe especially southeast, with hail and strong winds as the primary threats.

Rain and storm chances will wrap up early Monday morning in southeast Oklahoma, and the spring warmth will continue to crank up from there! We’ll see increasing sunshine on Monday, with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees! And if that’s not warm enough for you, a return to a south wind will usher in highs in the mid-80s on Tuesday!

Enjoy the calmer wind conditions to start the week, because some very windy conditions will arrive by Wednesday. Fire danger will be extremely high Wednesday with south winds gusting at or above 40 miles per hour and highs again back in the 80s. These howling winds are thanks to a strong low-pressure system ahead that will send a strong cold front into Green Country by early Thursday, ushering in much cooler conditions to wrap up the week.

After temperatures in the 80s in the middle of the week, we’ll free-fall all the way down into the upper 30s by Friday morning! Some patchy frost can’t be ruled out Friday morning. And we’ll keep highs much cooler in the 50s to around 60 on Friday, ahead of another rain-maker that looks to impact Green Country next weekend.
