Summer Heat Holding Firm In Green Country

If you’ve been outside the past few days, you certainly know it:  Summer is back! And that summer heat has a firm grip on Green Country as we wrap up the weekend.

Well above normal temperatures will continue today under partly to mostly sunny skies. Afternoon highs will climb back into the low 90s with heat index values in the mid-90s thanks to that nagging summertime humidity. Once again, we’ll have very little cooling breeze, unfortunately, with winds at or below 5 miles per hour. Stay hydrated if you have outdoor plans! A few of those very isolated pop-up showers will be possible again as well, though it’s just about a 10% chance for any one location.

Things only look to get a bit hotter as we head into the work week! Similar to the past few days, we’ll climb back into the lower 90s Monday afternoon with heat index values pushing into the upper 90s. And once again, a couple of those pop-up downpours will be possible Monday afternoon to cool a few lucky folks off just a bit.

As much as I hate to say it, the return of triple digit heat indices looks possible by mid-week! Highs will climb towards the mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday, and heat index values could climb up to or just above 100 in some spots. Yuck!

For you fall weather-lovers, I wish I had better news. But it looks like summer will hold firm through at least the end of the week! Our next hope for a slight weather pattern change will potentially arrive by Friday or Saturday as a cool front approaches Green Country. Unfortunately, this front does not look as strong as it did a few days ago, so it doesn’t look like we’ll see a major cool-down. But, it should bring increased clouds, a chance of scattered showers, and afternoon temperatures a few degrees cooler in the upper 80s as we head toward next weekend.

Have a wonderful Sunday, Green Country! Stay cool! Be sure to follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz to stay up to date with the very latest!
