Incumbent Kunzweiler Wins Nomination For Tulsa County D.A.

Incumbent Steve Kunzweiler has defeated opponent Ben Fu to become the GOP nominee for Tulsa County District Attorney.

Just a little bit ago, Kunzweiler received a phone call from Fu, conceding the election.

The atmosphere at Kunzweiler’s watch party has been very confident all night, as his numbers jumped up right from the start.

Kunzweiler has said throughout this race that he felt his level of experience would propel him to victory. In his victory speech, Kunzweiler touched on several of the high-profile cases he’s handled in the last three and a half years as District Attorney, specifically mentioning prosecuting the Betty Shelby and Michael Bever trials.

“There’s been a lot of big cases since I took office as the D.A. Any one of those would have been a career case for any prosecutor in this country,” he said. “You’ve got to have experience to be able to withstand those highs and lows.”

Kunzweiler said “two down, one to go.”

He will go on to face Democratic candidate Jenny Proehl-Day, another former Assistant District Attorney, in November.
