A McAlester Police Officer says he spotted what law enforcement believes to be a live grenade during a traffic stop.

According to McAlester PD Lt. Bobby Cox, the officer pulled over Brandon Short on a minor traffic violation around 4:30 Saturday afternoon. The officer discovered Short had multiple warrants out for his arrest. While taking inventory of the items inside Short's vehicle, the officer found what appeared to be a hand grenade in the console.

The officer sent a picture of the item to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol bomb squad who responded to the scene. The OHP bomb squad removed the item to another location where they determined the grenade was not live.

Short was booked into Pittsburg County Jail.
