Muskogee Police announced that they will begin increased traffic patrols this week as students return to class. Muskogee Public Schools is back in session Thursday, August 16.
Beginning that day, there will be dedicated officers in school zones throughout town ready to enforce speed limits, according to a news release. Officers will be operating on a zero tolerance policy, so be sure to watch for school crossing signs.
The extra patrol is expected to last through next week.
"This initiative is designed to increase the level of safety for the children in our community that would be going to and from school, and walking to and from the bus," the release states.
