You could forgive the Golden Hurricane for wanting to forget last season, but they’re choosing to learn from it instead.

For TU Football, it’s time to revisit things, a lot of things, because after a 2-10 season last year, it’s time to zone in and focus on getting better for this season and they say it’s all about the details.

“Last season was probably one of the toughest I’ve been through,” said Head Coach Philip Montgomery.  “We looked at everything we did, from a practice schedule, to how we prepare, to how we broke down things.  We know we have the right plan.”

“There’s no such thing as a little detail.  Everything is a big detail,” said quarterback Chad President.  “For the QBs, we just have to lead.  Everybody looks at us, whether it’s good or bad, so we have to lead the team and take it to new heights.”

“I think I’m trying to be a little bit more vocal,” stated quarterback Luke Skipper.  “I don’t talk that much if you didn’t know me out of here.  Just be a good example, that’s the biggest deal for me.”

On the other side of the ball, the defense knows they have a lot to work on.  Out of 129 teams, they were 127th.

“Every negative that we had we went over, but we tried to do it in a positive manner,” said defensive coordinator Bill Young.  “You’ve got to understand your weaknesses if you’re going to correct them.”

“We want to get extra work in, like do I back pedal more, getting everything right, like staying in your stance getting set, getting lined right, and like I said, just focus on these little details,” said safety McKinley Whitfield.

So 2-10 is a thing of the past and getting to a bowl game is the hope, but it’s going to take a lot of details to get them past that hump.
