A Broken Arrow man is in jail after being stabbed. Police said it happened when he forced his way into another man's home.

Broken Arrow Police said when they arrived in the 1100 block of West Atlanta Court, they found a man bleeding in the front yard. But, in this case, they don't believe the injured man was the victim.

Police said they were initially told two men were fighting in the front yard of a Broken Arrow home. When they got there, officers found Brian Edmounds bleeding from a stab wound to his upper arm.

"They didn't know at the time what caused the injury. An officer was able to apply a tourniquet to slow the bleeding," Officer James Koch said.

Detectives said the homeowner was outside around 9:30 Thursday night when Edmounds drove up, got out of his car, and confronted him.

"There may have been some sort of misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim,” Koch said. “There are still questions we have regarding this incident."

Police said what started verbal quickly turned physical.

"The victim retreated into the house and closed the door behind him. The suspect forced entry into the house and continued to assault the victim," Koch said.

Investigators said the victim grabbed a knife and used it to defend himself against Edmounds.

Police arrested Edmounds for first-degree burglary. He was treated at the hospital then taken to jail.

Police said they're still investigating.
