It's been years since folks at Grace Living Center in Jenks boarded a school bus, but they did it Wednesday for a special history lesson.
Jenks 9th grade students spent the last several weeks interviewing the seniors for a school project. Their assignment was to write a "living history" based on their interviews.
"Our residents are so excited to attend and see what the students have done," said Adele Burnett, school liaison at Grace Living Center Jenks.
"This has been such a wonderful project, uniting two generations and a wonderful way to really bring history to life for these kids."
Students presented those reports Wednesday in front of the residents who inspired them.
"Its just an opportunity for sharing for storytelling for getting to know someone that is in a nursing home," said Shan Glandon.
The idea came from teacher Kristi Forman. She says she wanted to bring a "real person" perspective to history for her class.
