The City of Tulsa is in talks to land an Amazon distribution center.
The sources who confirmed the talks wouldn't provide many details, other than to say it could be built near 46th Street North and Highway 169. More than 82 acres of empty land sits along Highway 169 in East Tulsa and right next door Quiktrip is building its brand new 275 thousand square foot center. Amazon's distribution center would much larger with 675 thousand square feet planned for the new facility.
According to QuickTrip, the area is a prime location.
"For us the short distance between Tulsa to Wichita and whichever markets we might go into in the future - we just think it is a good central point for us, " said Mike Thornbrugh of QuickTrip.
No official announcement has been made but city officials are hopeful they will reach an agreement with Amazon soon.
