Jenks police have identified the man who shot to death and found near Jenks High School on Sunday, April 22. The victim is 21-year-old Johnathan Weatherford.
Detective Sergeant Melissa Brown said they believe Weatherford was shot between 11:40 and 11:50 a.m. He was found near North Birch Street and West F Street.
Brown said someone driving by spotted the body and stopped. Weatherford was having difficulty breathing and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the last homicide in Jenks happened in 2014.
Brown said they saw a single gunshot wound and they haven't heard anything further from the medical examiner's office.

Police don't believe there is any danger to the public.
"We believe this is a very safe community," stated Brown. "We think this is an isolated incident and this isn't something that we deal with everyday, but we're working it the best that we can and we're going to try to find out what happened."
Neighbors say they're shocked to see something so tragic in their community.
"It was just kind of strange that somebody would show up with a gunshot wound on the railroad tracks down here," said area resident Wayne Parker. "It's been four years since we've had anything like this happen. It's a pretty quiet, safe community."
"We have some leads right now, but we are currently still active in the investigation," said Brown.
Brown said to call Jenks Police at 918-299-6311 if you think you saw anything suspicious Sunday or know anything about the crime.
