As the deadline approaches for a walkout, teachers are planning protests statewide.

In Haskell, teachers are already on a picket line.

Teachers said their protest is as much about overall school funding as it is about teacher pay.

They were out Wednesday morning waving signs on the street in front of the library.

They said they've been getting lots of friendly waves of support.

The teachers said they're hoping to ensure people know about the impact of decreased education funding.

"We give every day in support of our teachers and schools, but at this point, it's time for Oklahoma to wake up and rally behind education again. It's kind of embarrassing," said Haskell Public Schools Teacher Brandi Robertson.

The teachers in Haskell do plan to walk out April 2 if the legislature hasn't come up with a suitable solution for the funding crisis by then.
