Police say a Tulsa teen shot and killed his stepfather Thursday evening.
It happened just before 9 p.m in the 1200 block of South Winston.
Officers say the 17-year-old called police, telling them he had just shot his 40-year-old stepfather. Sgt. Dave Walker says the teen and his 48-year-old mother told police the stepfather was intoxicated and making threats to his wife.
Officers say the teen told police he picked up a shotgun and was sitting in the den of the home with his mother.
When the stepfather approached the stepson and grabbed the teen's arm, the stepson fired the gun once, hitting the stepfather in the chest, according to police.
Sgt. Walker says the stepson was not arrested, but the investigation continues.
This is Tulsa's 72nd homicide of the year.
