Shoppers at Sand Springs Walmart stopped a man police say tried to steal over $1,000 in merchandise. Quentin Fowler III was arrested Sunday, October 29 for grand larceny from a retailer.
The manager of the Walmart on Highway 97 at the Sand Springs Expressway told police Fowler pushed a cart filled with items out the door without paying.
A greeter tried to stop Fowler but the 23-year-old man pushed pass them, she said. Police said two customers stopped Fowler from leaving until officers could arrive.
Police say he had 45 items in his cart, totaling more than $1,100. Officers also found a camouflage belt belonging to the store when they searched him. The arrest report says Fowler told police what he did was "stupid" and that he didn't know why he did it.
He was released on bond later that day.
