Pets from the Hurricane Harvey storm zone will temporarily call Bixby home while shelters recover from the disaster.
Animal shelters along the Gulf of Mexico are preparing for a huge number pets displaced by historic flooding, so they need all the space they can get.
About 40 animals from the Houston area arrived at 'Your Pet Animal Hospital' in Bixby Friday afternoon.
The Tulsa Humane Society has taken in more than 200 animals from shelters in Harvey's storm zone.
That number will rise as they await to receive more truckloads of animals over the weekend.
Executive Director Evan Fadem said it's important to see the community come together to help those in need.
"We're evacuating the animals that were in the shelter prior to the storm hitting so the shelters can start accommodating those owned animals and those animals that have been displaced by the storm," Fadem said.
The Humane Society said all donations are still welcome, but money is the most important thing you can give at this point.
