A fertilizer building caught fire early Thursday morning, burning a hole in the building's roof.
The building at the Port of Catoosa caught fire around 1:30 a.m. and firefighters were on the scene until 7:00 in the morning.
Firefighters said the business, Agri-Nutrients, doesn’t operate 24 hours, so, fortunately, no one was inside at the time of the fire.
However, other employees working in surrounding buildings were asked to evacuate by Port of Catoosa security.
Firefighters said there were about 12 bins of fertilizer inside the building. They said it took them a little time to figure out which product exactly caught fire and what they needed to do to get in under control.
The state fire marshal has taken over the investigation. It will be up to their office to determine what the cause of the fire was.
