As Union Public Schools students head back to school Tuesday morning, some will be headed back at the district's newest school.

It's been a sea of construction all summer long but Ellen Ochoa Elementary will open for the first time Tuesday morning.

The district said 500 students will be attending the new school and more construction is ahead.

A community health clinic and pharmacy is in the works for this school, and that's set to open in 2019.

School leaders hosted a hot dog dinner last week to welcome new students and their families.

Elsewhere in the district, TCC concurrent classes started Monday at Union High School.

Saturday, Union's football team will play Broken Arrow at 11 a.m., kicking off the season. That game will be televised on ESPN.
