Concern around the potential BMX development in Greenwood is growing. Some fear the community could end up being left out when it comes to economic growth.
The Greenwood district has a lot of historical significance when it comes to business.
Re-building that legacy is where the community stands now. The hope is that any new development here keeps the people in mind.
All along Greenwood, you’ll see the signs for businesses that are no longer there, and the signs that read "Open."
"When you're in business, there is no face to the dollar no color to the dollar,” said resident Shalonda Liggins.
Liggins family's business has served the north Tulsa community for over 40 years. That legacy is continuing.
"Dealing with business, you want a variety, diversity,” she stated.
If the deal to build a BMX facility here goes through, that's just what she hopes to get.
But if you ask Judy Eason-Mcintyre, the potential development causes concern.
"I'm excited about any kind of growth that can be a part of our community,” she said. “There is just a tinge of concern that the community play a major roll."
Since Mayor GT Bynum announced the plans, many have taken to social media wondering if the development will be a plus or a negative.

In a Facebook post, City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper spoke about the financial opportunity and boost in tourism the BMX facility would bring.
But she understands concerns.
She wrote:
"In the past, I know that my community has a lack of trust with The City of Tulsa due to past deceitful business dealings with developers and the such. I will work with the City of Tulsa economic development department and BMX to ensure that there will be job opportunities for citizens in my community."
Eason-Mcintyre says she's optimistic.
"I have faith in our mayor, in Vanessa Hall-Harper and those people working with her," she said.
The plan to build the BMX facility isn't concrete.
A lot of negotiations still need to be made.
