Residents in the Whiteside Park neighborhood, located in the 4000 block of South Pittsburg, say a man has been seen exposing himself to others.

The area is full of families and children, and police say the man has been spotted more than once.

The victim says the man approached her recently, flashing her while holding a banana.

After the incident, the victim says she saw him in the area again and managed to snap pictures as he walked down the street.

A group of moms that go to the park three times a week to walk with their kids heard about the incident on social media.

"I think as parents we can handle that a little better,” said Tess Westhoff. “But for the kids, I think it's unfortunate that it's occurring."

The park they attend is a popular place for families to swim and play.

"So, that is prime real estate for him,” stated TPD Sex Crimes Sgt. Jillian Phippen.

Police tell News On 6 they are investigating the incident and are still trying to figure out the significance of the banana.

"He could just be holding that thinking he could get them to actually look at the banana and in the same time they see him being exposed,” said Sgt. Phippen.

Sgt. Phippen says at this point, they only know of one or two possible incidents and need other victims to come forward.

"If you want to post it on social media, that's great, but also giving us a phone call is going to be better,” said Phippen.

As for the group of moms, they say they'll be on the lookout for anyone with bad intentions.

"We are momma bears and we want to protect our little ones at the end of the day,” said Westhoff.

If you've had this happen to you, contact police.
