Decision On Helmerich Park Lawsuit Nearing

A judge is deciding whether to dismiss a lawsuit against the City of Tulsa over the sale of Helmerich Park. The lawsuit claims the city illegally abandoned the park to sell it.

The lawsuit states it was illegal to sell the property to the developer who would turn the space into an REI and other retail stores.

City attorney David O’Melia wouldn't appear on camera for News On 6 and neither would the attorney that filed the lawsuit. Instead, the plaintiffs gave us a statement, saying they look forward to a favorable ruling by the judge:

The judge said he’ll decide whether the lawsuit can proceed on Wednesday. If it goes through, it could impact or even stop the sale of the property.
