Tulsans Participate In VA 2K Walk To Benefit Veterans Health

The Veterans Administration held its VA 2K Walk and Roll all over the country Wednesday.

In Tulsa, the Ernest Childers Outpatient Clinic was headquarters for the event.

"This is the VA 2K, it's a national event that the Department of Veterans Affairs sponsors with the goal of promoting employee health and wellness and veteran health and wellness - getting people out getting them moving and walking," said Alice Doyle with the Veterans Administration.

People who come in to sign up for the walk were asked to also bring in donations of hygiene items and men's socks and underwear which would be given to homeless veterans.

The walk was for clinic staff, doctors, nurses and other employees, and veterans.

Another 2K walk is scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m. at VFW Post 577 on East 6th Street.
