Twelve ducklings are safe and back with their mother after firefighters rescued them from a storm drain Monday night.
Two people said they saw a mother duck and her ducklings as they went into a store in the 7500 block of South Olympia. They said when they came out, they only saw the mother and heard the ducklings in a storm drain.
Firefighters responded and attempted to open the drain. They said they tried unbolting it, using a hacksaw and two different sets of Jaws of Life before using another saw to open the drain.
The firefighters then crawled into the drain and rescued the ducklings.
