Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated a fatal wreck on Avery Drive near Chandler Park Sunday afternoon, May 14. Troopers said a motorcyclist and car collided just before 5 p.m.
Authorities said the motorcyclist was eastbound on Avery Drive at a high rate of speed when he went left of center, hitting a Ford Fusion head-on. The motorcyclist did not survive. He has been identified as 18-year-old Cobie D. Tyner of Oakhurst.
Two people were in the car, according to a collision report. Driver Lisa M. Reyna of Sand Springs was treated and released for minor injuries from a Tulsa hospital. A 15-year-old boy in her car was not hurt.
The airbag on the car did deploy, authorities said.
Reyna, 37, will not be cited in the wreck, according to OHP. Both Tyner and Reyna were in apparently normal condition before the crash, the investigating trooper said in his report.
OHP found a helmet at the scene but weren't sure if Tyner was wearing it when he wrecked.
A trooper at the scene said the investigation indicates speed and a curve in the road were probable factors in the fatality wreck.
