Work on Tulsa's Gilcrease Turnpike is now completed on paper, so the people in charge say construction should start sometime next year.
Everyone involved from the City of Tulsa to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority met to discuss the project on Tuesday.
Until recently, it was only a Tulsa project.
"There has been some right of way acquisition in the corridor already but we've got to complete the engineering, complete the right of way to accommodate the new highway and then we'll be prepared to move forward," said Tim Gatz with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
The turnpike will connect Interstate 44 on Tulsa's west side to Highway 412 just west of downtown Tulsa and includes a bridge over the Arkansas river.
