Adair Residents Concerned For Safety After Flooding

The rain is over for now, but towns across Oklahoma are still dealing with the aftermath of last week's flooding.

In, Adair County water has some high-risk residents concerned for their safety. It's been 11 days and some areas in Rodgers Cove are still flooded.

"Serenity, peace, no noise, freedom, I like to fish,” said resident Phyllis Graham.

But her sanctuary is flooded, and it has been for days.

"If it wasn't for the kindness of the gentleman that owns some pasture over here, we couldn't get out, at least I couldn't,” said Graham.

Graham lives on a dead-end road in Adair and says for the last two weeks, flood waters have covered the only road out of the area.

And that has posed some obstacles for Graham and her neighbors

"We're in our seventies, me and my neighbors,” she stated. “If we had a medical emergency, there is no way for an ambulance to get in here."

The flood waters transformed what used to be Grahams back yard out to the lake dock, into one body of water.

"That tree branch there, touching the water is usually ten feet above ground level,” she said.
