Only time for a brief recap this evening. As mentioned in yesterday's discussion, this has certainly been an interesting day. Rainfall totals were very generous and the 24 hour amounts as of this evening show widespread 2-4" totals with some higher amounts and some lower amounts. Personally, received 5" at my place and the official rain gauge out at the airport set a record for this date with a total of 2.87" which breaks the previous record of 2.54" set back in 1928.

This has also been a very cool day with temperatures for the most part holding in the 50s and in fact the high for the day was 64 degrees right at sunrise and the low for the day has so far been the 52 recorded at Noon. Click here for the normal and record values for this time of year..

As you can see on our forecast page, cloudy skies will prevail through the day Saturday which together with brisk northerly winds will keep temperatures on the cool side. In fact, daytime highs should again be confined to the 50s after starting the day in the upper 40s to near 50 so a very short thermometer. Although it may look like rain with the low cloud deck, only some drizzle or a few lingering light showers are expected for the morning hours and that should have mostly moved out or ended by early afternoon.
Our skies will be clearing by Saturday night and with a light northerly breeze, temperatures will be downright chilly to start the day on Sunday. Look for morning lows to be generally in the lower 40s and some of the cooler valleys of NE OK could briefly drop into the upper 30s. High pressure building in during the day will keep us with a northerly breeze, but we will also have full sunshine which should be enough to bring daytime highs to near the 70 degree mark.
Calm winds that night means another very cool start to the day on Monday, but gusty southerly winds will be quickly developing as high pressure slides on off to the east. The southerly winds and lots of sunshine should push daytime highs into the upper 70 and gusty southerly winds will make for even warmer conditions on Tuesday. However, a weak system looks to be moving into the state that night bringing more cloud cover and perhaps a few showers or storms for Tuesday night and to start the day on Wednesday. This does not currently look to be a particularly strong system but should be enough to keep temperatures at least somewhat in check for Wednesday into the day Thursday. Even so, we will still be warmer than normal for this time of year.
The latter part of next week going into that following weekend could see another very unsettled period. The longer range guidance has not yet come into consensus regarding the timing and intensity, but there are indications of another significant rainmaker that could be headed this way by then. Notice for example the 6-10 day guidance certainly suggests a trend to cooler and wetter than normal conditions for the last days of April.
