Dozens of people lined up early for free dental care Friday in Tulsa.

Despite the rain, there was a big crowd at the event located at The Perfect Smile at 53rd and South Lewis Friday morning.

Dr. Mark Davis says this is his fourth year for the "Dentistry From The Heart" program. He says his team has helped around 300 people at this event over the years and he estimates they do about $30,000 worth of procedures each year.

And he says he wouldn't have it any other way.

"All of the money, all of the insurance all of that stuff is out the window. You're just helping people out. It's very simple," said Dr. Mark Davis.

Despite the rain, the marketing director at a Perfect Smile told News On 6 this is the most popular year ever, more people than they've ever seen. They had to set up extra tents to help people get out of the rain.

Everyone who showed up could get one free cleaning, extraction or filling.

That's more than worth the wait for Amity, who says she's struggled for years trying to find a place that would fill her cavity at a reasonable cost.

"I cried. I cried, because this has been five years in the making of trying to get my teeth fixed.  You know, it's embarrassing to smile. It'll raise everything up. So I'm excited," said Amity.

And even with all the rain, Chrissy Oulette sums up just about everyone's attitude

"I'm prepared, I've got the umbrella too. I don't mind," said Chrissy Oulette.

The event runs on a first come-first served basis until 4 p.m.
