Tulsa Mayor-Elect G.T. Bynum will be sworn into office Monday, months after he was elected. A couple of new city councilors will also be taking the oath.
It's been five months and eight days, but Bynum will finally take his office December 5, 2016. The inauguration will be held at 2 p.m. at the Central Library's First Floor Atrium.
It's an event that's open to the public, and soon-to-be mayor Bynum is far from the only person being sworn in.
This will be the first day for Tulsa's two newest city councilors, Vanessa Hall Harper and Ben Kimbro.
Kimbro easily defeated Eric McCray a month ago for Bynum's vacant seat, while Hall Harper edged out incumbent and long-time councilor Jack Henderson.
Hall Harper has vowed to address issues in District One, which covers much of North Tulsa. Kimbro told News On 6 he wants to leave Tulsa a better place.
The Council will also elect their chair and vice-chair Monday.
