A Tulsa man is headed to prison for the rest of his life for the rape and murder of a 16-month-old girl.
Cody Johnson's attorney asked the judge for mercy, but prosecutors argued Johnson deserved no more mercy than he showed his victim, Sawyer Jefferson.
Prosecutors and police said there are no words to describe the brutality, savagery and horror of this case.

They said not only did Johnson rape a 16-month-old baby in every way possible but then brutally beat her to death. They said he's shown no remorse in this case, only concern for himself.
A veteran child crisis detective who's worked hundreds of abuse cases said it's the worst she's ever seen.
A nurse who does sexual assault exams on adults and children said it's the worse she's ever seen and the prosecutor who has seen almost every kind of abuse, said this case will haunt them all for many years to come.
"The sheer brutality, the pictures of the injuries, what was done to this child can only be described as pure savagery," said Tulsa County Assistant District Attorney Sarah McAmis.
Even the judge had to step out of the courtroom for several minutes after viewing pictures of the baby's battered and bruised body.
When she returned to the courtroom, she told Johnson, 'I hope to never see another case like this in my courtroom ever.'
She said she had no words for him so she gave him these words, 'life without parole, followed by life, then another life sentence and another,' making it clear that she never intended for him to ever get back out in society again.
Prosecutors said Johnson used unreasonable force on the child causing fatal bleeding and swelling of the brain.
