Railroad Ties Cause Crashes On Tulsa Highway

Railroad ties caused crashes In the eastbound lanes of I-44 near 49th West Avenue early Friday.

Troopers say those crashes closed the eastbound lanes for just over an hour while emergency crews cleared the wreckage.  That led to a backup of several miles.

The OHP says a truck lost several railroad ties that ended up in the eastbound lanes where they were hit by several vehicle, including a van that overturned. 

The Sapulpa Fire Department and EMSA are were also sent to the scene.

No word on if anyone was injured in the crashes.
