A Henryetta man walking on train tracks was struck and killed early Thursday morning.
According to the Henryetta Police Department, around 4:00 a.m. they were contacted by Burlington-Northern, which said one of its crews reported a train had struck a pedestrian.
Police said it happened about a mile north of the Main Street railroad tracks intersection.
A news release says the engineer said the train was going 20-25 miles per hour when he saw a man sitting on the tracks. He said as the train approached the man didn’t move and was hit.
The man identified as 55-year-old John Josie died at the scene. His body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for examination.
