Police are looking for a shooter that sent a teen to the hospital after he was shot in an apparent road rage incident.

The teenager said he's thankful to be alive and has a new outlook on life.

A bloody bullet hole sits as a reminder of what happened less than 24 hours ago to 15-year-old Pepe; he was shot in broad daylight driving home from school.

Erin: "Where you scared?
Pepe: “Yeah, I was scared. I thought I was finna die."

The high school sophomore didn't want to show his face because he's afraid the shooter is still looking for him.

Pepe said he dropped a friend off after school Monday and was driving home when another driver started acting strange. He said the driver seemed irritated with him but then drove off; later, when he came back down the road, the driver showed up again.

"He left the apartments and started following me, and he was going fast, and then he was speeding right next to me, fast, and then stop-and-go right behind me," he said. “And when he saw I was going to turn into the corner store he speeded right next to me, he shot at me."

Pepe said he felt helpless and didn't know what to do.

“Out of nowhere, you know, I saw the truck next to me, I saw the gun, what could I have done," asked the teen.

The bullet went into Pepe's side and through his back, missing his vital organs.

Now he is on the road to recovery. Doctors say he's lucky and will just need a few days to rest and heal.

The sophomore said he's also going to be much more cautious.

"Stay safe. Don't go out as much no more. Stay home, you know, deal with myself," he said.

Especially, with the shooter still out there.

“To everybody, what happened to me could happen to anybody else,” he said.

Pepe said he does have a permit to be driving but will probably be doing a lot less of that from now on.

Police said there has been an increase in shootings in the east Tulsa area but don't know if any of them are related.
