Sallisaw Man Drowns In Rock Quarry

<p>Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 21-year-old Sallisaw man drowned in a rock quarry in Leflore County Saturday afternoon.</p>

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 21-year-old Sallisaw man drowned in a rock quarry in Leflore County Saturday afternoon, November 12, 2016. Jacob Lewis' body was recovered Sunday morning in 19 feet of water.

An incident report states Lewis and another swimmer were swimming across the rock quarry in the Short Mountain area when he began to struggle. The other swimmer tried to save him but was unable to hold on. Lewis went under and never resurfaced.

He was not wearing a personal flotation device.
