Some Jenks parents showed support for educators after the penny sales tax state question failed November 9, 2016. Parents at Southeast Elementary chalked the sidewalks with messages of appreciation.

Many parents chalked the sidewalk outside the school with words of encouragement and support, and even decorated the fence so everyone driving by knows they "love their teachers."

Parent Jenny Suchy said, "Keep our teachers going and in the classroom, and help them keep their spirits up."

Parents are also donating money to buy lunch for all the teachers on Thursday.

Oklahoma voters rejected a penny sales tax dedicated to funding education and giving teachers a pay raise.  The measure failed with 852,641 "no" votes and 582,505 votes supporting State Question 779.

Southeast Elementary is located at 101st and Yale.
