Another warm and breezy day is likely across eastern OK before a cold front brings storm chances to part of the area with a modest cool-down to follow for the end of the week.   Highs today will reach the lower 80s along with south winds from 15 to 25 mph.   Later tonight into Wednesday morning the pattern will bring a front near northern OK with a few showers or storms Wednesday.   The higher chances will hold off until late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as the front moves quickly across northeastern OK.

The upper air pattern will support a trough quickly across the central plains during the next 36 hours.   At the base of the trough most data support a closed upper level low developing and staying across the desert southwest Thursday and Friday before ejecting into the upper flow Saturday and Sunday.   For this forecast cycle, I have chosen to follow the suggestions from the EURO regarding next week.

Breezy and warm conditions will remain today before the first part of the system arrives late tonight into Wednesday with a few showers or storms a possibility.   The chance will remain very low but not zero for this period.

Weather Alerts

Wednesday night the surface boundary will begin moving southeast and storms will attempt to form.   Severe weather is not expected.   A few showers or storms will quickly move across part of eastern OK during this period and will exit the area early Thursday morning.    Some folks will miss out but others will experience the precip.

Northeast winds will bring cooler air into the state Thursday and this air-mass will remain through Saturday morning.   This means morning lows Thursday will be in the 50s and into the upper 40s and lower 50s Friday morning.   Thursday afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s or lower 70s and may stay in the upper 60s or lower 70s Friday.  Friday Night Football will be good.

Saturday into Sunday a few showers or storms may be possible across western OK as the above mentioned cut-off low begins lifting northeast but also weakening in the process.   We’ll keep a slight mention Sunday night into Monday for a few showers or storms.   Another surface front will cross the area Tuesday with a slight chance for a few showers or storms followed by another modest cool-down by the middle to end of next week.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
