Giant Old-Fashioned Gas Pump Coming To Sapulpa

A giant old-fashioned gas pump is coming to Sapulpa.

You can already see the framework, on the west side of town.

One day soon a crew will install a 14-foot diameter globe on top with the logo of the Heart of Route 66 Car Museum.

"It'll help people find us and it'll be an instant icon for Sapulpa, for Oklahoma and for Route 66," said Lina Holmes, Museum Director.

Holmes says many folks take Route 66 for granted, but it's extremely popular with travelers. The museum has had visitors from 24 countries and 21 states just since August.
