A $13.4-million road project in 2017 is expected to help the flow of traffic along Highway 69 in McAlester.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says project calls for the replacement of pavement on a one mile stretch near the Wade Watts Bridge.
Work will also include the widening of that bridge and a nearby railroad bridge.
ODOT said they will also take down the traffic signals at Peaceable Road and Comanche Avenue in McAlester.
The first part of the project is expected to take about a year to complete. Work is scheduled to begin in February 2017.
