Police say a man is in critical condition after they say he was struck by a pickup while crossing a Tulsa street early Wednesday.

Officers says the man's clothing was a factor in the 6 a.m. accident in the 4800 block of South Mingo.

Police say a driver was headed south on Mingo when his Chevy pickup struck the man walking across the street.

EMSA took the pedestrian went to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say it was hard for the driver to see the man because the man was wearing dark clothing.

"If you're going to be out in the early mornings, whether you're riding your bicycle or you're running, you know, what you do in the morning, wear light colored clothing so you're easy to see," said police officer Jeanne Mackenzie.

One northbound lane and all southbound lanes of Mingo were closed for more than an hour as police investigated.

Police say the driver of the pickup was not injured.
