A Tulsa mother is in jail after deputies found her 2-year-old son wandering down a street in west Tulsa without a diaper or pants.
Deputies found his mom lying unconscious in a trailer without any air conditioning, running water or food.
Deputies arrested Casandra Jones for child neglect; her son is in DHS custody, where deputies say he's much safer.
A neighbor noticed the half-naked 2-year-old boy Thursday night, walking by himself on the street.
"This child was very vulnerable. This was late at night - he was wandering the street with no clothes on," said sheriff’s office spokesperson, Casey Roebuck.
The neighbor called the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office for help.
Deputies discovered the toddler lived with his mom in a trailer behind a home; when they approached, the door was wide open.
Roebuck said, "He was concerned the second he looked in the travel trailer that it wasn't an appropriate environment for a child to be."
Reports say tools and clothes even lighters were scattered everywhere, and there was no running water, electricity or food.
Deputies said Jones was laying unconscious on a mattress and wasn't responding to deputies. EMSA finally got her up and talking; she had no idea her toddler was gone.
"He could have been hit by a vehicle, he could have been kidnapped,” Roebuck said. “This child was in imminent danger, which is why the mother is now facing criminal charges."
Neighbors said Jones didn't appear to be a bad mom.
Jones is being held on $50,000 bond. She had five warrants out for her arrest, all for misdemeanor offenses.
