Police arrested Wardell Melton, 30, and a 15-year-old after a QuikTrip employee called police around 12:38 a.m. to report a man walking around inside the store at Admiral and Memorial with a shotgun in his pants.
Police arrived at the store and located three men in a black SUV parked outside the store. Police took three individuals into custody for questioning and found a black shotgun lying on the floorboard passenger side of the SUV, according to the police report.
The suspects were all wearing dark clothing and their descriptions matched those of two suspects reported earlier Tuesday night in two separate incidents including a robbery and carjacking, police said.
At 10:35 p.m., police responded to a carjacking at the Howard Johnson Hotel on East Skelly Drive after the victim said he was approached by two black males who demanded his vehicle, the report states.
The victim handed over his vehicle keys, cash and cell phone before the men drove away in his black 2005 GMC Denali.
A short time later at 10:58 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery at the El Taquero Taco Stand on South Mingo Road, where the victim said he was approached by two black males who demanded his money and cell phone, according to the police report.
The victim said he didn’t have money or a cell phone but gave them his notebook. One of the victims was armed with a gun, police said.
TPD is investigating the three incidents to see if they’re connected.
Melton was arrested for a robbery warrant out of Okmulgee County, and the juvenile was arrested for traffic warrants and possession of a loaded firearm.
TPD hasn't released information on the third person in the SUV yet, but News On 6 will continue to update the story as we receive information.
