Tulsa VA Clinic Sponsors Obesity Awareness Walk

The Ernest Childers VA Outpatient Clinic in Tulsa hosted a 1K Obesity Awareness Walk Tuesday for veterans and VA employees.

Participants wore yellow in honor of the theme, "Yellow Out, Fight Obesity."

The walk was ponsored by the VA's MOVE! Program, which is a national weight management program for veterans. 

The 2015 VA report states that the U.S. Veteran obesity rate has reached 80 percent surpassing that of the general population. The pilot 'Move' program that the VA said it hopes to make an annual event to educate and empower veterans nationwide to fight obesity not only in Oklahoma but throughout the nation.
