A few showers and thunderstorms will be a possibility both today and tomorrow but higher chances will remain Thursday night into Friday as a cold front moves across part of Northern and Eastern Oklahoma. This active weather pattern may remain for part of the weekend.  Additional chances for showers and thunderstorms may continue Sunday and early next week but the data remain uncertain for this period.

This morning the first front we’re tracking is located just to our northwest with a few showers and storms near this boundary.   One or two of these may slip into the metro early this morning before falling apart.

Most locations across eastern OK will remain dry.

Later tonight this boundary will begin lifting to the north-northwest as the pressure begins to fall across the Rockies.   East or Southeast winds will return late tonight but most of the day will support a Northeast wind at 5 to 10 miles per hour.   Mostly to partly cloudy conditions will prevail along with high temperatures into the mid or upper 80s across Northern Oklahoma and a few lowered 90s across the southern sections of the state.

Before the front begins lifting northward later today, a few showers or storms will be a possibility including some activity along the I-40 Corridor region.   We will include the mention for a few showers or storms in the Tulsa Metro today and tomorrow.   But the better chances for a larger area will remain Thursday night into Friday.

This morning we find a very fast upper air flow across portions of Central and Northern Canada, with a Southern stream system positioned across part of the desert southwest. This upper level trough will move to the east-northeast over the next 36 to 48 hours. Ask this system progresses into the Central Plains by Thursday night and Friday, a surface cold front located to our North will eventually drop southward bringing enhanced opportunities for showers and thunderstorms Thursday night through Friday.

We may have several rounds of showers and storms and some of these may impact part of Friday Night Football activities. The tropical air mass currently entrenched across most of the state may also provide pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall through the end of the week.

Temperatures will cool a few degrees today but should drop into the lower 80s or possibly even the upper 70s Friday and into the lower 80s Saturday. Today's data continue to support the chances for showers and thunderstorms Saturday and possibly for part of Sunday. We have made some minor adjustments to the Sunday forecast and this means a chance for showers and storms cannot be ruled out.

Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
