Oral Roberts University is one of the best in the west, according to a U.S. News & World Report released Tuesday.
It was also recognized by the publication as one of the best colleges for military veterans and active duty service members.
The university ranked 25th among Midwestern colleges in being one of the best college for active military service members and veterans. To qualify for this honor, a school had to be in the top half of its Best Colleges ranking category and have 20 more fall 2015 enrolled students using GI bill benefits to fund their tuition and fees.
ORU is ranked 44th among universities in 15 western states, scoring well in its retention rate for freshmen with 80 percent returning for their sophomore year.
ORU’s latest enrollment numbers released September 12, 2016 show its retention comparison rate from last fall to this fall is 83 percent. The university also has a student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1.
ORU’s fall enrollment grew by nearly 7 percent, bringing the fall 2016 enrollment to 3,852.
"This represents the largest increase year to year in our recent history," said ORU President William M. Wilson. "This is our largest incoming class at ORU in over a decade with 940 students."
