Tulsa Police arrested a 46-year-old man they say was breaking into a car in the 700 block of South Birmingham early Friday.

He was identified as Timothy Akers.

Just before 1 a.m. officers were called about an auto theft in progress.  They arrived and spotted Akers running away in the 2600 block of East Independence.  Using the police helicopter and K9 officers, officers tracked him down and arrested him.

EMSA took Akers to the hospital to be checked out for a dog bite before he was taken to the Tulsa County jail.

Police book him on complaints of burglary from auto and interfering with a police officer.

Jail records show he has a court appearance set for September 16.
