A car and a motorcycle collided on Highway 169 at 46th Street North Thursday afternoon. Police said the driver of the motorcycle was killed.
Witnesses told police that a Honda Accord was traveling north on Highway 169 and stopped due to construction traffic. That's when, they say a Kawasaki Ninja heading the same direction tried to maneuver around the witness vehicle and rapidly approached the Honda.
Police say the cyclist failed to brake in time and crashed into the Honda.
The wreck closed the inside northbound lane for over an hour.
The Tulsa Fire Department says traffic on the highway, starting just before the construction zone, was backed up for miles.
Police said the cyclist was taken to a local hospital and later died.
The name of the cyclist has not been released.
