The U.S.G.S. has released a detailed description of Saturday's 5.6-magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Pawnee.

Saturday's quake tied the 5.6 magnitude quake in November 2011 near Prague.   That quake resulted in two injuries, over a dozen homes destroyed and was felt in 17 states.

The U.S.G.S. says a 5.1-magnitude quake occurred in February 2016 near Fairview.   That quake was also broadly felt but did not cause significant damage.

Within an hour of Saturday's earthquake, there were four aftershocks, with the largest being a 3.6-magnitude quake after the main shock.

In the report, the U.S.G.S says more study and field work will need to be done to determine the specific fault responsible for Saturday's quake, but prior to this quake, Oklahoma and Kansas had close to 80 quakes with a magnitude 4 or greater in the past decade.
